Committing a script
Turn a finished script into an edit.

Committing hands the script to the video editor. It is the step between the Writers Room and the Editing Suite.
Until you commit, nothing downstream exists. After you commit, Prism builds a timeline from the blocks you wrote, in the order you left them.
Before you commit
- Read the script through, top to bottom
- On Enterprise plans, accept or decline every change the agent still has pending
- Check that each soundbite is the quote you want
- Add any suggested footage that is still outside your project
Committing the script
Choose Commit Script at the bottom of the right rail. With a panel open it is a full-width button carrying its name; with no panel open it collapses to a single icon in the corner.
The button reads Saving & Initiating... while Prism saves the script and starts the video-editing job. Unsaved work is saved as part of the commit, so there is no need to save first.
Committing starts a build, which spends output minutes when it finishes. A second commit after changing the script is a new build. Credits has the detail.
Blocks without recorded audio
Prism needs audio for every narration block, because a block's timing comes from its audio rather than from the length of the text.
If you have uploaded presenter recordings and some blocks are not covered by them, Missing voiceover coverage opens before the commit. It names how many of the script's blocks have no uploaded audio, and lists them.
Each listed block offers its own choice — Generate with AI, Upload file…, Record in browser… or Skip block — so you can decide block by block rather than all at once.
Three buttons sit at the foot of it:
- Go back returns to the script and changes nothing
- Upload missing files closes the message and leaves the uploads drawer open
- Commit with AI fill commits, and generates the missing narration
Blocks filled this way are narrated by the output's presenter voice.
If you have uploaded no recordings at all, this step does not appear.
When Commit is blocked
One thing disables the button outright: an anchor video still being processed.
A banner reads Processing 1 anchor video… and explains that preview is available now and Commit unlocks when processing completes, in about five minutes.
There is no way to skip it. Wait for the banner to clear, then commit.
What happens next
You land back on the output list, where the output shows as processing. The job runs on Prism's servers, so you can leave the page.
When it finishes, the Video Editor tab unlocks onto a timeline built from your script. Your first video covers the stages either side of this one.
FAQ
Do pending AI changes get committed?
No. A proposal is not part of your script until you accept it, so anything still pending is left out.
Does committing render the video?
No. It builds an edit for you to work on. You render from the Editing Suite once the edit is the way you want it.
