What Prism is

Prism turns source material into finished video, in your browser.

The Prism mark as an app icon: the four-blade asterisk in white with its red, purple, amber and green blades, on a black rounded tile.

You bring it footage — from a wire feed, from your own library, or from your computer — and brief the video you want. Prism writes the script, assembles the edit, and renders a file you can download.

What it does

Work moves through five places, in order:

  1. Home, where you find material and pick up recent work
  2. The Project Library, where you gather the footage for one project
  3. The Assignment Desk, where you brief the video
  4. The Writers Room, where you review and rewrite the script — the Script tab
  5. The Editing Suite, where you refine the edit — the Video Editor tab

A finished render appears under Distribution, ready to download.

In the left rail, the Writers Room and the Editing Suite appear as Script and Video Editor.

You decide how hands-on to be. Take the script and first cut as Prism drafts them, or shape every line and every clip yourself. Each stage goes as deep as the video needs.

What it works from

Prism assembles; it does not invent footage. Everything on screen comes from material you supplied or licensed:

  • Packages from the news agencies your account is connected to
  • Footage, audio and images you upload
  • Material already in your library from earlier work

What it does not do

Prism does not publish. There is no connection to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, or a CMS. You render a file and download it, or you export the edit to another editing system.

Prism does not run on a phone or tablet. It needs a desktop browser and a large screen.

Prism does not generate footage. If you have no material for a story, find some first.

Where to go next

Your first video walks the whole path once, end to end.

Core concepts explains the handful of objects Prism is built from — projects, outputs and blocks — which makes everything else easier to read.
