Connecting Google Drive

Link a Drive account as a media source.

Connect Google Drive once, and the files kept there can be brought into your library. The connection applies to the whole account.

Connecting Drive

You connect Drive yourself. On Team and Enterprise plans, only an account admin can connect it.

  1. Select your avatar at the bottom of the rail, then CONNECTORS
  2. Find the Google Drive card and its Google Drive Sync section
  3. Choose Connect Google Drive
  4. Sign in to Google and grant access on Google's own consent screen
  5. Google returns you to Prism, which confirms Google Drive connected successfully! and takes you back to your settings

Drive needs no API key. Signing in with your Google account is the whole setup.

Reading the connection status

The Google Drive Sync section tells you where things stand in plain language.

  • Connected — Drive is linked and files can be brought in
  • Not connected — no Drive account is linked yet
  • Expired — the authorization has lapsed and needs renewing
  • Disconnected — access was withdrawn and has to be granted again

When Drive is connected, the section also records who connected it, when, and when the authorization expires.

Checking it works

Test connection asks Google who Prism is signed in as.

A working connection reports the account email back to you. A broken one says the test failed: re-authorize.

Renewing or removing access

Re-authorize takes you back through the Google consent screen and refreshes an expired or withdrawn authorization.

Disconnect removes the link. Prism asks you to confirm before it does.

Bringing Drive files in

Drive files arrive through the same link route as any other file.

  1. Open Asset Search and choose the link icon beside UPLOAD
  2. Paste the Drive link into Import from a link
  3. Choose Import

Prism shows a Google Drive chip once it recognises the link. The row reads Fetching from link, then the file is processed and indexed like any other, and becomes searchable in your library.

When an import fails

The most common failure is a sharing problem rather than a Prism one.

If Prism cannot reach the file, the row says it could not fetch from that link and asks you to check the file is shared publicly.

If several Drive imports fail at once, check the connector's status under CONNECTORS before retrying them one by one.

FAQ

What happens to files already in my library if Drive is disconnected?

They stay. Disconnecting stops new imports, and what has already been fetched and indexed is yours.
