Projects
A project holds the work for one story.
A project is the unit of work in Prism. Inside it sit the material you gather and the videos you cut from it.
Every project contains a Project Library and a set of outputs. The library is the media, the outputs are the videos, and core concepts sets out how the two relate.
What a project holds
Open a project and the sidebar changes. Two entries appear: Project Library and Outputs.
Everything in the library is available to every output in that project. Two cuts of the same story share one bin of footage, so material added once serves both.
Find and open projects
The home screen has four sections: From the wire; a row of shortcuts headed Or start from footage — Upload footage, Find footage and New project; Pick up where you left off; and Projects.
Projects lists every project you can open, as cards in Grid view or rows in List view.
Search matches on both a project's name and its description. The box reads Search by name or description, and a clear button empties it.
Two controls narrow and order the list:
- Filter by owner with All Projects or My Projects
- Sort by Last Updated, Created or Name, in either direction
When nothing matches, Prism shows No projects match your filters and suggests adjusting the search. An account with no projects at all shows No projects available instead.
The project switcher in the header always names the project you are in. Open it to jump somewhere else without going back to the home screen.
It lists your projects, with MORE PROJECTS for the rest and NEW PROJECT to start one. You can also open a project from the Pick up where you left off row on the home screen.
Prism's project pages need to know which project you mean. Opening the outputs or library address on its own returns you to the home screen, so navigate from the switcher rather than from a saved link.
Outputs inside a project
An output is one video, and a project holds as many as the story needs. A broadcast cut and a vertical social cut are two outputs in one project.
The project switcher lists a project's OUTPUTS, and shows OUTPUTS IN PROGRESS separately while Prism is still working on one.
Renaming a project
A project name is not fixed. Change it whenever the story does.
- Open the options menu on the project card
- Choose Rename
- Type the new name in the Rename Project dialog and confirm with Rename
Deleting a project
Open the options menu on the project card, choose Delete, then confirm.
When you cannot create another
Your account has a ceiling on how many projects it can hold. Reach it and Prism shows Project limit reached instead of creating one.
Delete a project you have finished with, or upgrade your plan to hold more.
FAQ
Can I duplicate a project?
No. Rename and Delete are the only actions on a project itself. Outputs inside a project can be duplicated.
Can I recover a deleted project?
No. The confirmation dialog is the last point at which you can stop.
